The START

Week 1

More pics from 1st week on the trail

Just passed the 100 mile marker. The desert has been a mass of surprises around every corner- beautiful cacti and other spiny plants and succulents in bloom, critters from rattlesnakes, lizard, beetles and spiders, wonderful birds and bird songs, and from searing heat during the day to creeks and huge trees in sheltered ravines.
Mountains overlooking the Anzio-Borrezo Desert state park - all eye candy. Fabulous people who are hiking, interspersed with Trailangels that provide a cool drink (. Or beer), a hotdog or apple and water caches in the middle of nowhere. Wonderful to see the kind human spirit at its best. So many thanks to everyone who has/is supporting me with Hike4Rhinos- Truely appreciated! Cheers!

Day 9 - passed the 150mile mark - grand scenery, extremely hot days and usually try to find a little shade for a few hours

Pics from mile 108 Paradise Valley to mile 151 on PCT. Water for hikers, desert in bloom, lizards and snakes, much needed shade

2 zero days in Idyllwild - Recharging, resupplying, resting. Now back on the trail again. Snow storm and safe protected camp spot for the night.

Day went a little sideways, steep trail out of Idyllwild, hiked onto the alternate PCT unintentionally and climbed Mt San Jacinto, elevation 10834ft. Spectacular views. Lots of snow covering the trail.

Day 15, at Mile 205. Downhill into Palm Springs, feet pretty sore after so much downhill, dropped 7000ft in elevation from Mt San Jacinto, but all good. Just arrived at camp spot in Palm Springs.

Pics from San Gorgonia Wilderness, 250miles, cooling off, rattler alongside the trail, trail magic - enjoying soda and cookies and a sofa rest, camping at Coon Creek, fire damage SanBernadino

Should arrive in Mammoth tomorrow. Need to get supplies to replace broken tent pole, hole in mug, broken hiking pole and gps needs sorting.
All good and spirits high
Biggest Hellos. Pretty excited... seeing my brother later today. Woke up to the coyotes calling this morning and then sunrise over the volcanos - Mt Lassen
to the south, Mt Shasta to the North. Spectacular! On hat creek rim- hot dry waterless section of PCT. I believe there is a water cache ... such kind people
who do this. Only 21 miles to Burney Mt ranch to meet up with Darryl.
Pics from the past week - Hat Creek Rim camp. Mt Shasta sunset. Lava areas ... and how the feet look after a day hiking in volcano land dirt. Mt Burney
